How do we celebrate Holy Week and Easter at St. James’ Episcopal Church?
Sunday, April 9, 10:00 am – Palm Sunday: The Palm Procession and Holy Communion
We remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and read together the Passion Gospel.

Thursday, April 13, 7:00 pm – Maundy Thursday:
We remember Jesus’ washing his disciples’ feet and share a meal together.  After our meal, we enter the sanctuary in silence and remove all that signifies Jesus’ presence in the church.  When Jesus was crucified, the disciples were bereft and frightened.  Our “stripping of the altar” symbolizes the three days of Jesus’ absence before The Resurrection.

Friday, April 14, 7:00 am – Good Friday Stations of the Cross:
We remember Jesus’ journey from His condemnation by Pilate to His death and burial.

Friday, April 14, 7:00 pm – Good Friday Solemn Service:
We celebrate the traditional Good Friday service, reading God’s word, sharing prayer and departing in silence. The story is left unfinished because it will not end until Easter Day.

Sunday, April 16, 10:00 am – Easter Day:
We have spent a solemn week remembering so that our joy on Easter Day abounds.  We celebrate the joyous first Holy Communion of the Easter season.  After the service, we have a festive Easter egg hunt for the children.

All are welcome to join us at the Lord’s Table!
